film-photo: helpful tips on taking better photographs

lenses

There are many different lenses that a photographer can utilize for various types of shots. The average person shoots with a lens between 35mm and 50mm. At this size, the lens mimics the manner in which the human eye sees.

For getting closer to subject matter that is further away such as wildlife photography or more dangerous situations, a telephoto lens is required. These lenses usually range from 70mm to 120mm. Some telephoto lenses are even longer and act in essence as a telescope.

For getting extremely close up photographs of subject matter that is already right in front of you, you need to shoot with a Macro lens. Macro lenses are most commonly associated with extreme close-up images such as small animals, pictures of food or any situation where surface detail is the most important factor.
